Guignol is a French glove puppet created in Lyon around 1808 by Laurent Mourguet. By metonymy, the term also refers to the comic puppet theatre in which Guignol is the main character, forming with Gnafron and Madelon the recurring trio of plays in the classical repertoire.

The show is performed in a castelet, using the burattino or "glove puppet" technique, the particular features of which involve specific gestures and disproportionate props, giving rise to the situational comedy...
