Description
Every year, Saint Peter’s Day celebrates the patron saint of fishermen. In Cassis, festivities will take place on June 26, 27, and 28 to mark the occasion.
The Fêtes de la Mer is a unique opportunity to discover Cassis’s maritime traditions.
The festivities begin on Friday, June 26, at 7 p.m., with the fishermen’s aperitif, offered to the public by the Pêcheurs de la Prud’homie de Cassis at Place Mirabeau.
On Saturday, June 27, at 6 p.m., the second edition of “Miss Barquette” will take place: a legendary contest celebrating the beauty and spirit of Cassis’s traditional fishing boats, organized by the ACBT for the Fêtes de la Mer. Come witness a grand maritime parade where each boat will sail through the port of Cassis.
Then on Sunday, June 28, the day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a solemn mass, a moment of reflection and tribute to those lost at sea. The procession will then head toward the port, where the boats will set sail around 11 a.m. for the blessing at sea. A deeply moving highlight during which pointed-stern boats and decorated vessels parade through the Bay of Cassis.
