Valentine's Day 100% Made in Région Sud!

Single? In a relationship? Not really sure anymore? No stress. If you want to enjoy a great Valentine’s Day this year, simply let Provence, the Southern Alps and Côte d’Azur take you by the hand for a dinner or day out. And who knows, it could be the start of a sunny love affair… Made in Région Sud!

Single? So what?

Treat yourself to some “Calisson” candies (the name means little cuddle!)

Everyone’s entitled to some happiness on February 14th. So if you’re not dining out with your soulmate, ditch the diet and dive into a box of calissons! This iconic speciality of Aix-en-Provence made with candied fruit and ground almonds is perfect for the occasion. Legend tells that at the wedding of King René of Anjou and Jeanne de Laval, the usually rather frosty Jeanne exclaimed “di câlin soun” (these are like cuddles!) as she savoured a calisson. Cuddles with a taste of the South? Maybe going solo on Valentine’s Day isn’t so bad after all!

Cheers!

To wash down your candies or the recipe of your choice, there’s nothing quite like a glass of fine wine (Made in Région Sud of course!). You’ll find plenty of special Valentine’s Day wines at Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur’s cellars and vineyards, for example Château Les Valentines in La Londe les Maures, Cuvée Dame de Cœur at Clos desRoses, Cuvée Coup de Foudres at Domaine du Jas d’Esclans or Cuvée Cour d’Amour at Domaine Rostangue. It’s time to raise your glass to singles the world over. And make the most of it because all good things come to an end: next year, you might be obliged to share your bottle and box of calissons. After all, you can’t always have your cake and eat it!

In a relationship? Good for you

Cook something nice (without garlic))

We love garlic in the Région Sud. It add a touch of je ne sais quoi to our sunny vegetables, grilled fish and tapenade. But here’s the problem: if you want to avoid putting a damper on things, you really should avoid it. At least for one evening. Instead, concoct your menu thanks to our 100% guaranteed garlic-free southern recipes:

Camargue Rice with Truffles
“Socca Niçoise” flatbread
Sweet Chard Tard
Olive Oil Cake

And to make sure the mood is as sunny as your dishes, you’ll find our Made in Région Sud playlist here!

Tip: if you’re fed up with your relationship but too cowardly to tell them face to face, simply forget all of the above. Sunny vegetables, grilled fish or tapenade spiked with a good dose of garlic should seal the deal nicely.

Breathless

Not keen on routine? We have just what you need to rekindle the flame. Treat yourself (or even better, get someone to treat you) to a leap of faith this Valentine’s Day: a duo zipline ride at La Colmiane, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Descending 2,500 metres at speeds of up to 130 km/h, this little adventure in the clouds promises to leave you breathless. While you’re there, how about a skydive from Gap-Tallard airfield? And if your better half tends to get queasy, no problem, simply opt for our Plan B: slow mode stargazing at Saint-Véran. Perched at an altitude of over 2,000 metres, the “village where roosterspeck the stars” reputedly enjoys Europe’s purest skies… A dream spot for admiring the sparkling constellations and forgetting that one marriage in two ends in divorce.

It’s complicated? Not for much longer…

Charm them with the scents of the Côte d’Azur

Got a feeling they’re stringing you along? It’s time to get out the big guns with some fragrance from the Côte d’Azur’s famous perfume houses (Molinard, Fragonard, Galimard, etc.). Once you’re draped in these sensual scents, NOBODY will be able to resist you. So spritz away and give your loved one a last chance.

Did the plan work? Congratulations!

A fail? Sorry, but this person has no taste. They simply don’t deserve you. Next!

Book a holiday in the Région Sud

Can’t stand the sight of them anymore? These things happen. Find out if it’s just a hiccup or a serious stalemate by booking a stay in the Région Sud. With hiking and snowshoeing on the menu this February, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur promises plenty of memories to take back home. Was the holiday a success? Welcome to a bright future with your partner! He/she dumped you in the middle of Mercantour National Park without a phone and emptied your joint account? It’s time to turn the page…

Happy Valentine’s Day in the Région Sud!
